UNTITLED (FOR L.W.)

A night, some night, one night…
Lew will pick me up in a cab,
Drive me to Bolinas by the sea,
And in a pagoda that someone
Once perhaps killed herself in,
Take my dark and my virginity…
Then all the marbles that align
Slow and bright in the universe
Will finally fall away (ours too)
And we will spin and drop and
Know a force like rats on a ship
That sinks while Jesus walks by
And waves (his hair like waves)…
(No, he would stop, watch us kiss
(My hair like waves), and think of
Judas and his amethyst rot lips)…
(And such death surrounds it all
Because everyone everywhere will
Do it someday (I’m sorry it’s true))…
So now, while you’re here, why not
Raise a hand in the street (any street)
And whisper soft and sweat for Lew…

SPIRIT, COME IN…
I HAVE LOST A STONE FROM MY RING
AND SO, COME IN…
